Booked in for bloodwork? Say that you take biotin. A two-gummy serving carries 5000 mcg of it, roughly 167 times the daily value, and at that level biotin can push several routine lab assays off their true reading. The nutrient is not hurting you; the number on the report is what goes wrong. Read the safety page.

What Gelagen is actually for

Four honest answers about what a daily gummy can support, and a plain list of the things it cannot do. Read the second list first if you are short of time.

The Case For It

Four things Gelagen can reasonably support

Each one with the tissue it concerns and the timescale it runs on.

Nails you stop filing down every fortnight

The nail plate is keratin, and keratin is protein your body assembles from raw material. Biotin, B6, pantothenic acid and zinc all appear somewhere in that assembly line, and all four are on this panel with a printed amount. What a supplement can do is remove a shortage as a possible cause of a brittle edge. What it cannot do is make a nail grow faster than a nail grows.

Around 3 mm a month is the usual pace for a fingernail, so the first section grown entirely while you were taking Gelagen reaches the tip in roughly two to three months.

Hair that is being fed while it is in its growing phase

At any moment most of the hair on a head is in anagen, the growing phase, and a minority is resting or shedding. The follicles in the growing phase are among the most metabolically busy structures in the body. Folate is a cell-division vitamin, B12 supports red blood cell formation and therefore delivery, and pantothenic acid sits in the energy pathway all of it runs on.

None of that makes a dormant follicle wake up. Pattern hair loss is a hormonal and genetic process and it needs a dermatologist, not a gummy.

Skin supported from the inside, not resurfaced from the outside

Vitamin C is a cofactor in the body's own collagen synthesis, which is a different thing from swallowing collagen and something this formula genuinely supports at 20 mg. Vitamin E is an antioxidant carried in cell membranes, zinc has a role in skin repair, and vitamin A is bound up in how skin cells turn over. That is inside-out support.

It is not a treatment for acne, eczema, rosacea or psoriasis, and if you have one of those you are better served by someone who can look at your skin.

A daily habit that is small enough to actually keep

The most common reason a supplement does nothing is that the bottle ends up at the back of a cupboard by week three. Two sweet gummies are easier to keep up than a capsule that needs water or a powder that needs a shaker, and a habit kept for ninety days beats a better formula abandoned in twenty.

Sixty gummies is thirty days. Set the empty bottle by the kettle as the reminder to reorder.

The Case Against Overclaiming

Six things Gelagen is not

  • It is not a medicine, and it is not licensed as one anywhere.
  • It does not treat, cure or prevent any disease, skin condition or hair condition.
  • It contains no collagen, so it is not a collagen supplement by any reading.
  • It will not reverse pattern baldness, alopecia areata or scarring hair loss.
  • It will not remove a stretch mark, a scar or a varicose vein.
  • It is not a substitute for eating properly, sleeping, or seeing a doctor.

Every one of those lines is here because somebody somewhere sells a gummy on the opposite claim. If a page tells you a vitamin will regrow a receding hairline, close it.

The Nutrients

The Gelagen ingredients behind those four claims

Eggs, walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds and vegetables, foods that carry biotin

Biotin

5000 mcg · 16,667% DV

The headline number on the panel and the reason most people pick a gummy like this one up. Biotin is a B vitamin your body uses when it builds keratin, the protein that nails and hair are made of.

  • Listed at 5000 mcg in every two-gummy serving
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal hair and nails
  • High enough to matter at a blood draw — see the safety page
Leafy greens, citrus, beans, broccoli and avocado, foods that carry folate

Folate

442 mcg DFE · 111% DV

Printed on the panel as 260 mcg of folic acid, which converts to 442 mcg DFE. Folate is a cell-division vitamin, and a hair follicle divides more often than almost any other tissue you own.

  • 260 mcg folic acid, shown as 442 mcg DFE
  • Involved in normal cell division
  • Ask a doctor first if you take methotrexate
Vitamin B6 in powdered form, the pyridoxine hydrochloride used in the formula

Vitamin B6

2 mg · 118% DV

Two milligrams of pyridoxine hydrochloride. B6 sits in the middle of protein metabolism, which is the part of the job that keratin production depends on. Some affiliate pages print 7.4 mg here; the label does not.

  • 2 mg per serving, not the 7.4 mg quoted elsewhere
  • Supports normal protein and glycogen metabolism
  • The 7.4 mg on the panel belongs to vitamin E
A golden mineral fragment marked B12, representing methylcobalamin

Vitamin B12

6 mcg · 250% DV

Six micrograms as methylcobalamin, the form that needs no conversion step. B12 is the nutrient plant-based eaters run short of first, and a shortage shows up in tiredness long before it shows up in a mirror.

  • 6 mcg as methylcobalamin
  • Contributes to normal red blood cell formation
  • The form the label names, not cyanocobalamin
D-calcium pantothenate powder in a glass dish, the pantothenic acid used in the formula

Pantothenic Acid

5.2 mg · 104% DV

Vitamin B5, supplied as d-calcium pantothenate. It is a quiet entry on the panel and an unglamorous one, sitting inside the energy pathway that every dividing cell in a follicle draws on.

  • 5.2 mg as d-calcium pantothenate
  • Part of normal energy-yielding metabolism
  • Just over one hundred percent of the daily value

The Pectin Base

No gelatin · No collagen

What the nutrients are carried in. Pectin comes from fruit, so the gummy is set without gelatin. That also means there is no collagen anywhere in this bottle, whatever a third-party page may tell you.

  • Set with pectin, listed in Other Ingredients
  • Beet root extract does the colouring
  • 3 g of added sugar per two-gummy serving

Printed amounts. No proprietary blends.
